November 17, 1978 – A date which will live in television infamy. For on the fateful Friday night, CBS pre-empted Wonder Woman and The Incredible Hulk in order to show America (and the world) the Star Wars Holiday Special. And like all great holiday specials, the SWHS would live on forever with repeat airings, right? Not exactly…..

So given the popularity of Star Wars right now, the guys of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! decided that the time was right to revisit this infamous show. We got together last Saturday night for a viewing party. Armed with a steady supply of drinks, we bravely watched this episode, and recorded our commentary during the show.

Now, a few notes before we get started….

• The video we watched last Saturday has since been taken down by the Disney legal department. No worries, plenty of other versions of it out there. The version we watched did not contain the animated cartoon, and the opening and closing credit scenes using the John Williams movie score were muted. The version you find may or may not be similar to ours.
• Yes, this is our feeble attempt to replicate the Mystery Science Theater 3000/RiffTrax model. I will remind you that those guys get paid, and we are the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! If you want a top-notch performance, go listen to their commentary. If you want Cullen, John and Jerry’s take on Life Day, give this podcast a listen.
• There are a few points where we were silent during the recording. We were either refilling drinks, asleep, or completely speechless from the performances of Bea Arthur, Art Carney, and Jefferson Starship. Stick with us, please.
• If this goes well, maybe the WCPE will do another commentary track. Anyone up for our thoughts on Howard the Duck?
