Here at the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, we try to stay current with all of the latest books, news, and events in the world of comic books.
For example, in this episode, we give you a review of Star Wars #10. While we do try very hard to come with new words to use in place of “AWESOME” each and every month, it’s been a solid read each and every issue. We also give a run down of all of other long lists of books that we bought (or had pulled) for the first week of October. Seriously, we might need to take out a small loan to afford all of the wonderful books out this month.
As mentioned on the podcast, we will start taking suggestions for our 2016 WCPE book of the year. We’ve had a great year reading Star Wars, but we are looking forward to finding a new book that we can spotlight all year long. Send us your picks soon!
John and Jerry give a recount of the 10th annual Free State Comicon last weekend in Lawrence, KS. For all of the adventures that we have had at larger conventions this year, a smaller comic-focused show was just what we were looking for – a show with quarter boxes, local comic creators, and familiar friends. Big thanks to Craig Klotz and his crew for putting on another incredible show. The guys even took a quick break for lunch and a visit to the new Boom Comics store in Lawrence.
Cullen tries to teach us some of the local jargon of the Portland region, specifically as to what the locals call the Things From Another World comic stores. Jerry goes off on a rant over all of the complaints about Scooby Doo Team-Up #12 from grumpy fans that apparently have no clue as to how comic distribution works, the free market system, and availability at direct market stores vs. retail juggernauts.
We wrap things up with a look at the premiere episode of the new Flash season – LOVED IT! Finally, we have a little fun with Cullen looking back at a comic that no one really wanted in 1982 but apparently has some demand now. Yes, we are referring to the fabled Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk – Chaos in Kansas City comic, presented by the Jones Store. Now that we’ve teased it, you won’t be able to get this out of your mind!
We are the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, and we hope you enjoy the show.
