WCPE Episode 265 – Legends Summer Reading Part 2 and Eisner’s Preview

Everyone is back from vacation this week, so it’s time to get back into our summer reading program with the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! This year, we are looking at DC’s Legends event from 1986. From the creative team of John Ostrander, Len Wein, John Byrne and Karl Kesel, this first company-wide event post-Crisis has Darkseid trying to destroy the heroes of Earth, both literally and figuratively.

This event ran 28 issues, so we are going to break this up over four sessions. For this week’s reading, we will be covering the following issues if you want to follow along at home.

  • Secret Origins #10
  • FIrestorm #55
  • Legends #3
  • Cosmic Boy #2
  • Justice League of America #259
  • FIrestorm #56
  • Blue Beetle #9

In addition to our comic reading, we also look ahead at some of the nominees for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, which will be given out Friday night at San Diego Comic Con. We run through many of the categories, making our picks as to who we think should win in the category. Check out our Facebook page for a post earlier this week and leave your choices as well.

We also have our Pick 3 for new books coming out next week. In a rare alignment of the planets, all three guys pick a book from Marvel Comics. And all three picks are #1 issues, so tune in to find out what you should be buying next week.

We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you’ve been reading or watching this week. Contact us on our website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or by email. We want to hear from you! As always, we are the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! and we hope you enjoy the show.
