The Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! trinity is traveling this weekend. No, we’re not talking about Jerry and John going to the Smallville Comic-Con over the weekend. Instead, we’re making time-travel references to our reading lists – the past, the present, and the future!
To get things going, we head back in time five years, to the far-more-simpler times of 2012. That year, Marvel finally gave the fanboys and fangirls the story they had been clamoring for years about, the Avengers vs. X-Men series. Like any event, there is the main series, the spin-off series, and dozens of tie-in issues. We have made this event our summer reading project, diving into the first half-dozen issues in the story. We discuss what works, what has gone on before and compare & contrast the two organizations. John will be posting our reading list this weekend if you wish to follow along with us, either via the original issues in your collection, the Marvel Unlimited app, or your omnibus collection of the entire series.
Heading back into the present, we take a look at DC’s kick-off to their next big event, with Dark Days: The Forge #1. This series has something for any fan of DC Comics past, present or future. We see the return of Carter Hall, a mysterious hidden cave within the Batcave, and a tease who might be the mastermind behind everything that is going on. Color us all intrigued with everything given to us with this issue. We are eagerly awaiting the next issue in the Dark Days story arc.
Finally, we look ahead to the future, specifically the books coming out in September. We put together our short list of books coming out that really interest us, whether it is the storylines, the characters, and/or the creators attached to the book. If you have looked at the September solicits, share your list of books that you are most looking forward to reading this fall.
