WCPE Episode 123 – Politics in Comics

On this week’s episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, the guys get political as we enter the final fortnight of the U.S. Presidential election. But we get enough coverage of the two candidates elsewhere. Instead on this show, we look at some comic books with political topics. Whether heroes are running for president or taking over the world, comic books are an excellent way to present a look into the world of politics. The guys discuss many of our favorite books with a political theme to the stories.

  • First, we offer up our condolences on the passing of artist Steve Dillon. This is a good reminder for you to click the Hero Initiative link at the bottom of the blog post.
  • Next, we get into the controversy that forced Mockingbird writer Chelsea Cain to quit Twitter this week. Trust us, it will take more than 144 characters to get through this one. Bottom line: MEAN PEOPLE SUCK! BE NICE, WORLD!
  • Finally, we discuss the J. Scott Campbell variant cover for Midtown Comics. Yeah, that comic! Trust me, as three dads of daughters, we’re not that amused.

We finish things up with another round of What’s In a Name?, the game that is sweeping the country.
