So, dearly beloved listeners, we are just two days away from Valentine’s Day. You got some flowers ordered for that special person in your life, right? No? Well, no worries, we know you have made dinner reservations, correct? WHAT?!?! At least tell us that you’ve already got your tickets to see Deadpool this weekend? You have? EXCELLENT! Then this podcast arrives at the most appropriate time, as the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! sits down to chat with Cullen Bunn, writer of a lot of Deadpool comics. We’d tried to count them up, but we only have 10 fingers, and the guys have proven time and time again that math is hard.
Now long-time followers of the show have probably heard us mention Cullen Bunn’s name once or twice or maybe 27 times. Again, math is not our friend. Anyway, John interviewed CB* and Brian Hurtt at Planet Comicon last March, and Jerry and John spoke to CB at O Comic Con last May. Since that last interview, CB has written like 50,000 comics for all of the publishers, including a story in this week’s Deadpool #7, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the character’s debut, as well as a new mini-series that launched last week, Deadpool & The Merc$ for Money.
*For the record, it’s very hard to write up a show description when the interviewer and the interviewee both share the name of Cullen. We tried to get one of them to change their name, but couldn’t get either one to agree to it!
So you can easily expect a lot of Deadpool talk this week. Seriously, A LOT OF DEADPOOL TALK. There’s the Deadpool movie, there’s the Deadpool comics, and then there are the chimichangas! (In fact, we are so crazy into Deadpool right now we’re having another prize pack giveaway. If you’re smart, you might consider subscribing to the WCPE YouTube channel and follow WCPE on Instagram. Maybe take a minute and review the post from earlier today. Just putting that out there…..)
As if Deadpool talk was not enough, Cullen and John get in a few other questions with CB, such as his time working in a comic book store and his life-long dream to write a Micronauts comic, which will become reality later this spring.
And yes, you will find that Jerry is absent from the podcast this week. While he claims to be sick, we all know that he is still too emotionally upset over the way-too-soon cancellation of CB’s Fearless Defenders series. Either way, Jerry should be back on the airwaves next week.
As always, we are the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, and we hope you enjoy the show.
