Welcome back to the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! Here it is, the long-awaited fan vote results for our Best of 2015 Survey. Back in Episode 78, the guys sat down and shared their picks for the Best Publisher, Best Title, Best All-Ages Title, and more. Not that this should come as a surprise to anyone, but you should expect a lot of references to Weirdworld.
But before we get there, we have an exciting new Kickstarter opportunity we want to share with everyone. We recently were contacted by friend of the show and comic book writer, Jai Nitz. His niece Hayley Nitz was creating her own comic book to earn a merit badge in Girl Scouts. To be honest, we were a little skeptical at first, but we figured we would do a favor for Jai, and see if we couldn’t turn that into some free El Diablo Suicide Squad swag later this summer.
Then we saw the project – WOW! This is a legitimate comic book project, with the talent in place to make this a success. Titled Chasing Hitler, Hayley developed the story around a nugget of information she learned in History class – that Adolf Hitler’s body was never found at the end of World War II. Playing “what if”, Hayley started developing a story that imagined the Axis leader escaping Germany and the Allied forces that are on a mission to track him down.
Hayley and Jai worked out a script, then Jai called in some of his friends to flesh out the project. First up is Greg Smallwood (Moon Knight artist), who provided character designs and the brilliant cover of the book. Jethro Morales (Green Hornet) provided the pencil layout,; Marie Enger (Pistolwhip) added the colors, and Chris Crank (Toshiro) lettered the story. Seriously, TAKE MY MONEY NOW!!
Check out the Kickstarter page for Chasing Hitler to see additional art, and please consider supporting this project. Even if you can’t support it financially, consider sharing the info with your friends (and tell them to listen to WCPE, too!). We are eagerly looking forward to seeing the finished project, and we hope to see Hayley on the convention circuit later this year.
As always, we are the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, and we hope you enjoy the show.
