WCPE Episode 075 – For December 9, 2015 – Interview with Freddie Williams II, artist on Batman/TMNT

screenshot896What a wild week it has been! Wednesday saw the release of Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 from DC Comics and IDW Publishing. Seriously, this has got to be one of the greatest team-ups ever! This is more important than the time peanut butter met chocolate. More significant than Scooby-Doo and his friends working with the Harlem Globetrotters. I dare say, this is even bigger than a dream match-up with Starsky & Hutch double-dating with Laverne & Shirley.

The Worst. Comic. Podcast EVER! was thrilled to be able to sit down and talk with Batman/TMNT artist Freddie Williams II to discuss what went into bringing this book to the store shelves; his collaboration with colorist Jeremy Colwell in the digital environment to create a unique look for the book; and the thrill of bringing James Tynion IV’s script to life. We also talk about our history with the TMNT, going back to the black & white comic from the 1980s. The only thing that could have made this interview better would be to have some cheese pizza with our conversation.

jonas1We also take a look at Freddie’s other ongoing project, Infinite Adventures of Jonas Quantam with writer Marc Guggenheim for Legendary. IAoJQ is a creator-owned project that has been years in the making. Issue #1 was one of our Four Comics I Want picks back in September, and issue #4 just came out this past week. Go back to your LCS and pick up this series!

To take a look at Freddie’s work, check out his website at FreddieArt.com. It’s a great website filled with art, sketches, tutorials and more. Go out and give it a look!

As always, we are the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, and we hope you enjoy the show.
