With apologies to that really cool cat Julie Caesar, the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!’s trip to St Louis could easily be summed up as, “We came, we saw, we bought some comics!” John and Jerry are back from the 2015 Project: Comic Con in St. Louis, and we’re going to bring you up to speed from our incredible weekend!
First, this was a comic book-oriented show, which we absolutely love. (And that’s not a knock against any show that brings in the media guests – we get it, and we have had a lot of fun at those shows too!) But there’s a certain thrill to see comics at every booth and table throughout the room.
We ran into a lot of familiar friends at the show, like Cullen Bunn, Phil Hester, Matt Kindt, Jeff Balke, and more. But the show introduced us to a lot of new friends that we were excited to interview, such as Trina Robbins, Meredith Finch, Faith Erin Hicks, C. Spike Trotman, Alex de Campi, Joshua Dysart, and more. We even got a chance to meet up with one of our listeners, Travis Foley, and his son.
Now, this podcast is not all focused on Project: Comic Con. (But next week’s podcast will be!) Also on the show tonight, we review the items in our pull-boxes this week; answer an email question from listener Josh Thomas about comic purchasing and finding the best comic book each month; catch up on the third and final trailer for Episode VII, which gave us the chance to go over the poll results from our Star Wars question last week.
As always, we are the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, and we hope you enjoy the show.
