WCPE Episode 056 – For August 5, 2015 – Tim Benson, KCCC, and #backbacon

It’s the calm before the nerd storm, people! We are just hours away from the start of the Kansas City Comic Con! Look for the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! at booth 412. We can’t wait to meet you! Make time throughout the weekend to attend some of our panels. Or all of our panels, we’re cool with that too!

The guys were joined tonight by Tim Benson from Houchen Bindery. Some of us (OK, all of us) would say Tim has a dream job in comics — assembling custom bound collections of comic books for customers. If you’ve been following us for awhile, you know Jerry had his John Byrne’s Alpha Flight done earlier this year, and John just had a video review this week of his New Teen Titans collection. We’re working hard for Cullen to go ahead with getting his collection of EPIC Magazines bound. Tim shared some stories about binding comics, and we also talked about one our new favorite books right now, Weirdworld.

Pictured below are some examples of the work done by Tim and the staff at Houchen Bindery.

We also did a roundtable discussion on Star Wars #7, a stand-alone issue from Jason Aaron and Simone Bianchi featuring Ben Kenobi. John also gives us a quick look at Dark Corridor #1 and John Flood #1. And some quick apologies – sometime after the 17:38 mark, Cullen spilled his beer and we ended up talking about #backbacon. Trust us, podcasting is a lot harder than it looks – or sounds!

As always, we invite your comments and questions to this podcast or any other topics in the world of comics. Start by posting a reply on the blog. Then go find us in social media on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. We are the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, and we hope you enjoy the show.

The Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! is proudly sponsored by Clint’s Comics. Clint’s is located at 3941 Main in Kansas City, Missouri, and is open Monday through Saturday.
